Having found a Maria, a Joseph and a Nancy for the West End stage, John headed for Toronto to judge the Canadian version of How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? for the CBC channel.
John joined the other judges, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Simon Lee and Elaine Overholt to support, encourage and challenge the ten potential Marias as they moved closer to the starring role in The Sound of Music at Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre, in the autumn of 2008.
