After successfully solving a problem like Maria, Andrew Lloyd Webber embarked on a second TV talent search, this time for the lead in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. John was once again invited to judge the thousands of hopefuls, alongside Denise van Outen, Bill Kenwright and Zoe Tyler.
With the thousands whittled down to twelve, the finalists battled it out on live TV every Saturday night in front of a studio audience, with the results dependent on the viewers' telephone votes.
Lee Mead eventually won the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, walking into overnight West End stardom.
