<Company Reviews>

COMPANY forged a new form of musical theater and began the so-called Sondheim era when it opened in 1970. To a greater extent than ever before, its songs revealed character in a manner that was highly personal, self-analytical, and real-but-funny. Sondheim won his first Tony Award, with the show taking additional Tonys for best musical and for George Furth's book.

This bittersweet, clever portrayal of five couples - some married, some about to be married, and some who were once wed - is told through the eyes of 35-year-old perennial bachelor Robert  (Bobby).

Olivier-nominated British director Sean Mathias helmed this production featuring star of stage and screen Lynn Redgrave (SHAKESPEARE FOR MY FATHER, GODS AND MONSTERS) as Joanne, Tony Winner Christy Baron (THE REAL THING, RUMORS) as Susan, John Barrowman (PUTTTING IT TOGETHER, SUNSET BOULEVARD) as Bobby, Matt Bogart (SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE, AIDA) as Paul, Alice Ripley (JAMES JOYCE'S THE DEAD, SIDESHOW) as Amy, and Emily Skinner (THE FULL MONTY, SIDESHOW)as Jenny.
