Prince Edward Theatre, London
1989
Role: Billy Crocker
John's West End Debut!
In 1989, John took a break from college in the States, to study Shakespeare in the UK. It was while visiting relatives in Scotland that he heard about an open casting call for the show ANYTHING GOES (the same show he'd just seen a few weeks prior in London with his parents).
They were looking for a young man who could do an American accent. John auditioned...and was offered the part less then 48 hours later.
Elaine Paige was one of the producers and stars of the show and remains a dear and important person to John. After all it was the "First Lady of British Theatre" that gave John his first major break.
