Whether you live in Slough or Los Angeles, this competition is for all!
Would you like an unsigned Aladdin flyer and the chance to win posters and flyers signed by John? Would you like to have a bit of fun and raise a bit of cash for Dog's Trust?
All you have to do is enter our 'Flyers around the World' competition.
How does this work?
The first 200 people to email us and send at least £2 for postage and packing will receive 2 flyers (profits to Dog's Trust). Photograph one flyer in a recognisable and/or humorous location (then it's yours to keep). Leave the other flyer somewhere noticeable but legal, for example a notice board or library - or maybe you can think of another, original way of using the second flyer to promote the panto!
Send us your photo and tell us where you left the second flyer.
We know that some of you could easily PhotoShop a flyer into a photo of, for example, the Taj Mahal, but that would be cheating, and it wouldn't be as much fun so we're asking you to be "real".
We're putting all the photos up in the 'Flyers around the World' gallery and the five best or funniest or most original photos will win a signed poster or flyer (John has signed 2 Aladdin posters and 3 flyers for johnbarrowman.com). The other entries will go into a draw for one of 5 unsigned posters.
We don't need the photo locations to be really famous (although that would be cool!) but if you've got a local landmark or can simply think of an amusing location then that's great. Just don't get yourself into trouble, or danger, while you're doing it.
The London Eye
To give you ideas, we took out a camera and 2 flyers. Please note, we didn't LEAVE the flyers in these places and we didn't mark or deface anything we used (especially the TARDIS). The application of a small amount of Blu-Tac for a few seconds was all that was needed and we made sure we removed all traces of Blu-Tac afterwards. We didn't want to get prosecuted, and we don't want you to get into trouble either.
We left our spare flyer in the left-hand phone box opposite St Paul's Cathedral. Quirky place, but we'd had a long day and needed to go for tea and cake! If it's still there, hands off! Let other people notice it, and send for your own!
Don't get yourself, or us, into trouble for fly-posting and ask permission where necessary.
Brush up your... pantomime? (The Globe Theatre, London)
Here are full details of how to take part:
1. Email pantoflyers@johnbarrowman.net with your name, full postal address and email address in the body of the email.
2. We will contact you to say whether you were successful or not. If you don't hear from us, check your junk email. We will also announce on the Barrowmanonline mailing list when the flyers have all been allocated
3. We'll ask you to send £2.00 by Paypal to cover the cost of postage and packing. The cost is the same, wherever you live but if you want to send more, feel free, as all profits will got to Dogs Trust.
4. Once you have your flyers, you're set to go! Find your location, take your photo and then leave one of the flyers where it'll get some attention.
5. Send your photo with details of where taken and what you did with the second flyer to pantoflyers@johnbarrowman.net. Closing date for entries is November 2nd, 2007.
6. We will put all the photos in a gallery on the web site
7. When all entries have been received we will select the winners
8. All the other entries will go into the draw for the unsigned posters
The prizes are to make it a little more interesting but the main point of the competition is for you to have some fun, entertain others with your inventiveness and promote the panto.
Happy photographing and good luck!
