On December 1st 2004, John (a long time Crusaid supporter) hosted a very special screening of one of his favorite films, 'The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert' for Crusaid, a U.K charity dedicated to helping those in the UK and Africa who are affected by HIV and AIDS.
Also on hand were the film's writer/director, Stephan Elliott, and one of its stars, Terrance Stamp.
Following the film, John performed selections from his cabaret act, with Chris Hamilton on piano.
During the cabaret John auctioned off a film poster autographed by both Stephen Elliott and Terrance Stamp and the headdress you see him wearing in these photos. He also donated a pair of tickets to see CHICAGO ( the London production in which he was then starring as Billy Flynn). The prize included a champagne visit with him in his dressing room after the show!
The event raised a total of £6,467.88.
Event organizer, Nadine Allexant, was thrilled beyond measure, thanks in no small part to John and his generous fans, and hopes to work with him again in the future.
