On July 22nd, 2005, John attended a charity race meeting at Newmarket Races in aid of Cancer Research UK.

John was the guest of the international ceramics company, Porcelanosa.

It was a private event but among the other guests were Tory spin doctor Guy Black and actress Amanda Barrie.
