Broadcast Magazine's HOT 100 of 2006
posted 28 November 2006
The UK's Broadcast Magazine has named John one of 2006's HOT talents.
"He sings, he dances, he acts, he skates, he presents, he judges and he juggles (probably). Barrowman, 39, born in Glasgow but raised in Illinois and now holding dual US/UK citizenship, is an Entertainer with a capital E. And this year he's been doing most of it in primetime. he judged on 'How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?', he perfomed on 'Dancing on Ice', and his role in' Doctor Who' as Captain Jack Harkness was turned into the 'Torchwood' spin-off series."

John is Stonewall's Entertainer of the Year
posted 3 November 2006
Stonewall last night (2 November 2006) presented its first annual awards at a star-studded ceremony hosted by Sir Ian McKellen at London's Royal Academy. Sponsored by Barclays, the awards celebrate the positive contributions made by individuals and organisations - both gay and straight - to the lives of gay people in Britain. John was named Entertainer of the Year.
Stonewall was founded in 1989 as a lobbying group to combat the proposed Section 28 of the Local Government Act that sought to curb mention of homosexuality in schools. It works to address the needs of people in the gay community.
"Thank you for this honour. It means a great deal to me to be recognised by my community and peers. Congratulations to the other nominees. We are the few who are proud of who we are and not afraid to talk about it. We are proof that you can be honest and have a great career. I hope others can live by this example." - John Barrowman
